Writing is an integral part of your child’s school work. This journal is perfect for your first grader to begin to write. Early writers often attempt to spell words on their own. Writing at this young of an age can often be only one word or a few words that don’t quite make up a full sentence. That’s ok! This is how beginning writers get started. Encourage any and all writing. If your child is hesitant or doesn’t enjoy it, have them start by drawing and coloring a picture. Then ask them to tell you about the picture. Help them write a few words from their description. Writing not only helps build their creativity, but helps improve their handwriting and spelling. A tip: date all of their writing pieces once they are done. You will see their growth and improvement over the school year. It’s amazing to witness! This book can be used in classrooms, with homeschooling, remote learning or just for bonus practice at home. This can also be a fun vacation journal to write about your trip. The handwriting lines are for elementary writing with 3 lines, with the middle being dotted. This book has a pretty soft glossy cover…oh and first graders love penguins!
